Whether you are a freshman or a senior NOW is the time to start planning for your professional career.


BE SURE TO:
  • Ask for tutoring help if you are having problems with a course.
  • Don′t wait until it is too late.
  • Work on your computer skills. Strong computer skills are useful in every career.
  • Read all emails and notices sent out by Career Services and the Internship Office.

Freshman Year
  • Research, identify and select an academic major
  • Meet with a Career Services associate for preliminary career guidance
  • Prepare a resume to apply for a part-time job or summer position
  • Consider work-study employment and volunteer opportunities to bolster your resume

Sophomore Year
  • Develop a rapport with faculty and mentors
  • Complete career development workshops in preparation for internship opportunities
  • Attend career related events to develop professional networks

Junior Year
  • Meet with a Career Services Internship Associate to determine your eligibility for internship placement
  • Research internship opportunities on DowLink
  • Continue involvement in college and community activities to build résumé and gain transferable skills
  • Attend career related events to develop professional networks

Senior Year
  • Register and upload your resume to DowLink for approval
    (if you have not already done so)
  • Attend Career Services recruitment events and job fairs
  • Apply to graduate schools if you plan to continue your education
  • Begin your job search
