Intern of the Semester • Kimberly Charles •

Employer of the Semester

Upon recommendation of Allstate Insurance Company, Kimberly Charles has been selected as Intern of the Semester for the spring 2011 term. According to her supervisor, “Kimberly had opportunities to achieve all of her objectives during her internship at Allstate. She learned about our Safe Teen Drive LI program and immediately started writing press releases and internal and external communications to the school districts that applied for the grant, Allstate agents, and sales leaders. These types of communications were new to her and she took the time to make them ready to send.” Kimberly’s dedication and service through commitment to the internship objectives of applied learning set her apart from her peers. According to Kimberly, “Allstate has helped me gain awareness on the general work functions and gave me the opportunity to experience the likes and the dislikes of the corporate world… My internship has prepared me to pursue other endeavors in communications.”

Kimberly is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts with a concentration in Media Studies. After graduation in December 2011, she plans to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. Her ideal career would be broadcast journalism at CNN, covering a wide-range of topics from around the world and even within local communities.
