Dr. Myrka A. Gonzalez
Myrka A. Gonzalez has been a practicing attorney for over twenty five years. She is a member of Dowling College's Board of Trustees and received her Doctoral Degree from Dowling in 2002. She is also an adjunct professor at SUNY Suffolk CC.

She has been awarded many honors, such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals Philanthropist of the Year, the Juliette Low Award of Distinction, and the Town of Islip Hispanic Heritage Award. She is currently on the Chairman's Counsel of the Heckscher Museum of Art and on the Education Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association. She has been published numerous times, including legal and educational articles that were published in the Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, L.I. Educational Review, Latin Long Island, and La Tribuna. Dr. Gonzalez has presented papers in Bordeaux, France and Hilton Head South Carolina.

Myrka and her husband David Ochoa in 2001 established the "Myrka Gonzalez and David Ochoa Latino Scholarship Award" at Dowling College. The same year they established the "Myrka Gonzalez and David Ochoa Endowed Scholarship" for Hofstra University School of Law.
