- Adjunct Faculty - School of Education
Dowling College's Sport Management and Physical Education Program invite Adjunct Faculty applicants for courses to commence in 2013. Instructional experience with K-12 students in a public education setting. A Masters in Physical Education is required. A Doctorate is preferred. Pedagogy Courses: Motor Development and Motor Learning, Instructional Methods of Teaching Adapted Physical Education, Instructional Methods of Teaching Physical Education to Elementary Students, Instructional Method Teaching Physical Education to Secondary Students. Activity Courses: Dance and Dance Instruction, Individual and Team Sport Activity Courses.

- Assistant Professor, Graphic Design and Digital Arts (at Dowling College)
Dowling College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Arts, beginning September 1, 2013, pending budget approval.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Terminal degree in Digital Arts and/or Graphic Design with at least three-years of college teaching experience and a proven record of teaching effectiveness. A minimum of five years of industry background in such areas as publication design, web design and animation and/or product design are also required. Candidate should have strong connections within the industry and allied professions. The successful candidate should have a commitment to excellent teaching and college service, including student advising, recruitment and retention.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The teaching load is up to eight sections per academic year with advising duties (including some outreach to industry for internship opportunities for students). Responsibilities will include teaching several levels of Graphic Design and Digital Arts to include, but not be limited to, Computer Graphics, Graphic Design, Typography, Web Design, History of Graphic Design, and/or Animation. Knowledge of industry standards is critical as is expertise with computers and current programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design and Dreamweaver. Must be proficient with PC and MAC platforms. Experience with Flash, multi-media, 3D Animation and Modeling and Game Design is a plus. The College is interested in collaborative research with partners in the print, digital media and/or product design industries.

- Staff / Administration Positions
DEPARTMENT:
Office of Enrollment Services: Communications Center
HOURS:
15 Hours per Week - Weekday evening hours 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and one Saturday a month.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Communication and Operations Administrator, the Communications Center part timer is responsible for outreaching via telephone to applicants and prospective students with the goal of converting these populations to Dowling College students. Provide staffing assistance when needed to assist with incoming calls at the main switchboard.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Provide outreach via telephone to applicants and prospective students. Assist these populations with a high level of customer service with the goal of converting to Dowling College students.
- Enters complete and accurate data concerning each interaction into the Banner system
- Provide staffing assistance when needed to assist with incoming calls
- Assist in the completion of mass mailings
- Print and prepare transcripts for mailings.
- Assist at College functions (information sessions and open houses).
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal, listening, written, telephone), high energy level and positive attitude. Detail oriented and able to perform complex tasks. Keyboarding skills including word processing (Windows, Banner, Access, Excel and (Word - at 50 wpm). Flexible work schedule and location. Capability to work both autonomously and as a team member. Requires decision-making skills and previous customer service experience.

- College Nurse – Part Time
POSITION TITLE: College Nurse – Part Time
DEPARTMENT: Health Services
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The College Nurse is responsible for the daily management, development, and implementation and monitoring of the College’s Health Services available for the staff and student body, during normal business hours. This position reports to the Director of Counseling Health and Wellness Programs.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Promotes and maintains the health and well being of the college wide community according to the New York State Nurse Practice Act by caring for:
- Illnesses and promotion of immunization education to protect all members of the College family against preventable diseases.
- Documenting employee and student injuries follow up with Human Resources and Campus Safety.
- Promoting health and wellness programs, blood drives and seminars.
- Maintain New York State Law 2165 (Immunizations) and complete yearly survey to NYS Department of Health.
- Coordinate efforts with Residence Hall to maintain healthy life choices for all students. F.
- Coordinate student insurance with Gallagher Koster Insurance Company.
- Perform first aid when needed, monitor minor illness, and refer to area physicians and clinic based on insurance.
- Acts as liaison between medical physician and patient in the event of illness when necessary.
- Maintains up to date medical educational material for the use and loan to the college community.
- Provides information to access free immunizations.
- Instructs the college community in preventive practices concerning:
- Athletic activity
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Nutrition, diets, exercise and weight control
- Communicable and sexually transmitted diseases
- Counsels when necessary, concerning medical issues, psychological and /or sociological problems are
- Telephone communications, data entry, mailings, and filing of documentation.
- Maintain and organize procedures concerning student medical records.
- Supervise medical staffing.
- Medical supply ordering and displacement.
- Attending conferences regarding college health issues. Providing information to increase the knowledge of students, staff and faculty to promote self- care and compliance.
- Staffing between Oakdale and Brookhaven Campus with a nurse Monday –Friday.
- Perform other job related duties.
The practice of nursing is defined as performing tasks and responsibilities within the frame work of case finding, health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician. (The State Education Department Nursing Handbook, Education Law, Article 139 Nursing, page 18). The direction may be in the form of telephone communication. A medical doctor will perform this duty in order to be in compliance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current New York State Registered Nurses License. Excellent interpersonal and written skills. Ability to supervise and maintain confidentiality within the Health Services Department. Computer and Banner system knowledge. Ability to evaluate medical and health forms for accuracy and completeness. Interpreting and following New York State Law regarding post-secondary immunization requirements.

Dowling College's Annual Security Report
