La Familia was established to promote the Hispanic culture; to expose our national heritage of honor, pride, and courage; to communicate and work as a group in educating the Dowling College community; to engage ourselves in community service; to socialize and unite students with different cultures and backgrounds; to expose an energetic and exciting Hispanic culture and what it has to offer; and to create a home-away-from-home environment even for those who are not from a Hispanic background.

Planned events include a Latin Week and a Fall Latin Night.
